This is possibly an ER diagram for a hospital or doctors office, with the main entities being doctor, appointment, payment, patient, and bill. This diagram covers just about the whole process of a hospital visit by a patient. A doctor gets scheduled for an appointment, which in turn generates a bill, that the patient needs to pay. By looking at this diagram I can see that one payment is applied to one bill and then one bill can be paid off over multiple payments, and by different types of payments. Another relationship I can see is that a patient can schedule many appointments, but there can only be one patient for each appointment slot. I think the author put this diagram together well, as it was very easy to read and understand. The only thing I don’t see is the PK and FK in front of anything, which is something we focused on in class yesterday.
